Leveling the bed on a 3D printer is one of the most important steps before printing to make sure you get a successful print. My Monoprice maker select v2 has some metal thumbscrews on each corner for accomplishing this task. I saw some information on autoleveling mods, but decided to try a simple improvement first. Some users on Thingiverse had some success printing a thumbscrew with a nylock nut. This would reduce the chance of the level changing over time or with vibration.
I printed one of the designs off Thingiverse but it was small and not very easy to rotate. I decided to model my own larger version and try that with the nuts I bought from Home Depot. I quickly found out the reason for the smaller thumbscrews when the large ones had clearance issues. I also had to dial in the right tolerance for pressfitting the M3 nylock nuts into the part. I eventually arrived at a working design after several iterations. The final version is shown on the right in the picture below. The new thumbscrews are working great so far!
