I recently purchased a Monoprice Maker Select V2. I decided to buy a 3D printer because I was working on a few personal projects in Solidworks and the price to get them prototyped was almost equivalent the printer.
It took about an hour or two to get everything set up out of the box and begin printing. My first project to complete was an electric ukulele that I designed. The rendering is shown below.
I chose this project because I have been wanting to buy a ukulele for a while and love the island life. It took a little while to design the dovetail neck, but this is a nice feature to be able to take the ukulele apart and swap bodies/necks. Due to the limited size of the printer, I had to print the parts in multiple sections and glue them together. The only items not glued are the pickguard and the neck.
The final project is shown below. I am still finishing up the back cover and the bridge needs to be redesigned to account for the tension in the strings. I am also finishing an acoustic model shaped like a pineapple. I will post an update and full project detail when they are complete.
Aloha!
