Bike Repair

The front brakes on my bike kept falling apart due to a worn bracket holding the cable. It’s been a few weeks and I decided to attempt a repair with a 3D printed ABS part.  I took the measurement and designed the part. First attempt broke after a few pulls due to how the layers were oriented on the printer, thickness of the part, and stress concentrations in the sharp corners. Fixed all of these in the next design and printed in about 20 minutes. Ended up with a great part. Survived a few hours of riding so far. The 3D printer should come in handy for some minor repairs in the future.  It is an extremely quick process for a small part.

Here are pictures of the printed part and the original still on the back brakes.
